Cricket Philosophy

Our Pillars

Accountability: We hold ourselves accountable for our decisions and actions. We are responsible for the quality and lasting results of our work

Commitment: We commit to the process of mastery by actively searching out challenging situations and learning opportunities. We put the team’s needs before our own and will leave RGS a better place for everyone who follows

Integrity: It’s the way we choose to be off as well as on the field; in the classroom, in the gym, during training, and when no one is watching

Respect: We are open and honest with ourselves and each other. We respect individual differences, strengths, and weaknesses. We show respect to opponents, match officials, and those involved in supporting cricket at RGS

Our Coaching Environment

Challenging: Players constantly train at and above their current level of ability; struggle, failure, and reflection are necessary parts of the learning process

Contextualised: Activities are linked to the development of specific factors. Players will know the why behind each activity

Decision Rich: Players make regular choices within sessions. They are encouraged to reflect upon their outcomes to support future decisions and actions

Engaging: Practices ensure high levels of activity and engagement

Inclusive: Players of any experience and ability can actively engage

Supportive: We care for the individual rather than only caring about the player. We take the time to build and maintain positive relationships. Coaches encourage creativity and positive risk taking

Variable: Coaches select the most appropriate method/practice to support individual and team development

Adaptable: We can identify and react to the unique demands of any situation

Brave: We have the courage not to take the easy option

Creative: We can identify, select, and execute non-traditional solutions

Perform Under Pressure: We can identify, select, and execute skills under pressure

Physical: We are able to meet the significant physical demands of the game

Positive: We back our skills and abilities, and those of our team-mates

Team-First: We prioritise the needs of the team above our own

United: We stay together. Always.
